Can a wife ask her husband to compensate her for breastfeeding their own children? هل تستحق الزوجة أجرة على إرضاعها لأولادها؟

 All praise is due to Allah alone, and may the Salah and Salam of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his companions. To answer your question, we say while seeking all the success from Allah:   The majority of scholars from the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafie schools hold the view that she is not entitled to a compensation for breastfeeding her children, which is also one of the valid views in the Hanbali school that Shaykhul Islam, Ibn Taymiyyah chose. This is because she is obliged to breastfeed her own children while she is married to the father of their children based on the ayah (interpretation of meaning) {Mothers may breastfeed their children two complete years for whoever wishes to complete the nursing [period].}[Quran 2:233]. In this ayah, Allah has phrased His order in the form of statement i.e. the wives are obligated to breastfeed their children and the husbands are obligated to sustain their wives by providing them food and clothes. Allah, the Most High, said (interpretation of meaning): {Upon the father is the mothers' provision and their clothing according to what is acceptable}. This ruling is applied as long as the woman remains the wife of the father of their children.
