الجواب
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions. Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As to what follows: In response to your question, wesay: The principle is that fasting is valid and everything which opposes this should be disregarded as long as there is no clear proof that for the nullification of fasting by eating, drinking and so on. However, if a person engages is sinful things the reward of his fasting will be reduced. Abu Hurairah (peace be upon him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,“ "Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (fasting) ” [al-Bukhari (6057)].
