Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions. Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As to what follows: In response to your question, we say: This is not the wording of the famous hadith. The wording is, “The day of your fasting is the day of your slaughtering”. Another narration states, “and the day of your new year”. This hadith has no basis as was stated by Imam Ahmad and others. Thus it is not authentic that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said that.
