Dear respected Shaykh, assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. I own a building which was rented out for eight years. The rentals were of varying amounts. I did not pay Zakat for the rentals which I received because nothing from these rentals would remain in my account after the passage of a year. Is something due from me? زكاة عائد الإيجار

As to what follows: In response to your question, we say: If nothing from the rentals remains after the passage of a year, then nothing is due from you because the passage of a year while a person possesses wealth is a condition for the compulsoriness of Zakat.
