As to what follows: In response to your question, we say:   There is a type of magic which is based on knowing characteristics of things, and a person who cheats people using that is called a magician because magic is of different types. However, this does not necessarily mean that he takes the ruling of a person who uses the help of  jinn and devils in his magic.
