الجواب

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions.
Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
As to what follows:
If the socks are worn with a person with tahara, it is permissible for him to make mash on them for 1 day and 1 night if he is not travelling, and if he is travelling then the duration will be 3 days and 3 nights. This is based on the hadith naratted by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that:
“The Prophet (peace be on him) fixed the period of mash (wiping) over the leather socks (Khifaf – plural of Khuff) for three days and nights for a traveller and one day and a night for the resident person in a town.” [Reported by Muslim].
