Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions. Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As to what follows: In response to your question, we say: According to the correct opinion from the two opinions of the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) in this issue, there is no problem if a woman gives her Zakat to her children because Zaynab the wife of ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ood said, “O Prophet of Allah! Today you ordered people to give alms and I had an ornament and intended to give it as alms, but Ibn Mas`ud said that he and his children deserved it more than anybody else." The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Ibn Mas`ud had spoken the truth. Your husband and your children had more right to it than anybody else" [al-Bukhari (1462)]. Dr. Khalid al-Muslih 18/12/1424 H
