Dear respected Shaykh, assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Can a person be called a magician if he does not seek the help of the devils, like if he uses medicines and pills? هل يكون السحر باستخدام الشياطين فقط؟

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions. Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As to what follows: In response to your question, we say: There is a type of magic which is based on knowing characteristics of things, and a person who cheats people using that is called a magician because magic is of different types. However, this does not necessarily mean that he takes the ruling of a person who uses the help of jinn and devils in his magic.
