Dear respected Shaykh, assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. A herd of goats crossed the road whilst I was driving on the highway and I hit one of them. I do not know if it died or if it was injured. I drove on and did not stop. Is there anything due from me? I cannot go to the owner of the goats if I am required to do so. صدمت قطيع ماعز فماذا عليّ؟

As to what follows: In response to your question, we say: If barriers which prevent shepherds from coming near the highway were placed on the road, then nothing is due from you.
