Dear respected Shaykh, assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Does the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Evil take the ruling of the king when they are informed of crimes that are committed by people? هيئة الأمر بالمعروف هل تأخذ حكم السلطان؟

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions. Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As to what follows: In response to your question, we say:   The Committee does not take the ruling of the king. Therefore it is permitted to intercede to it on behalf of the guilty persons for them not to be punished.
